Principles of Thai Massage

Thai massage is an eastern culture massage therapy that aims to relax people both physically and spiritually. The aim of the massage is to stretch the body and open the chakras by applying high pressure and low pressure. In Thai massage, which is performed on a semi-rigid floor, the therapist performs the application using body weight. The duration of the massage is between 1-4 hours and does not require the person to remove their clothes and use oil. Since it is applied to the whole body from the toes to the scalp with various stretching, pulling, stretching and pressure movements, it is a slightly hard massage. It must be applied by a masseur-masseuse who has received training. A wrong movement will cause damage to the body.

Thai massage has 4 basic principles.

  • The massaged person is placed on his/her back and the front side is massaged.
  • The person lies on his/her side and both sides of the body are massaged with light movements.
  • Manipulations are made on the back side of the body by lying face down.
  • The therapy is completed by performing the movements in the sitting position.

When all positions are completed, the massage is over. The point to be considered is to apply these positions without a break and with slow movements.
